Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a business advisor?
You can’t know, what you don’t know. So just as you trust an agent, management, PR or your accountant to handle certain things for you, so to you often need expertise on business. We find commercialisation opportunities that you might not realise you’re missing, and help mitigate and manage risks where your personal and business interests overlap.
What does the service cost?
We price our service based on your bespoke needs, but that doesn’t mean we’re ‘expensive’. Depending on whether you need ongoing predictable support or ad-hoc short project work, we can price on a fixed fee or time spent basis. We’re value-add which means we don’t charge unless we think we’ll make you or save you at least the same amount.
How do I benefit from having a business advisor?
Our whole purpose is to optimise earnings from your business interests. In reality this means we’re identifying and exploiting opportunities that you might not see or don’t have time to deal with, but also we’re identifying and managing risk to protecting you (and your career) from what can go wrong.

Managing your business interests outside of your public facing career
Why this is important
You don’t always have the time or energy to be everywhere all at once. Business interests are likely to be investments, assets and personal passion projects that if left without regular supervision can begin to underperform.
It could be as simple as having someone to keep on top of the admin, or filtering through the more important decisions that you want to make personally, but it can also enable you to be ‘present’ and maintain relationships through our regular contact.
These aspects of your income often provide a nest-egg for the future or something purposeful outside of the public facing aspects of your job, so can have more on the line emotionally.
How we approach this
- Regular meetings with you formed from set agendas to keep an organised, risk-based approach, to managing interests
- Reporting to you on a summary basis key decisions, bulletins on progress/management issues arising, and good performance
- Identifying and promoting opportunities to improve asset performance, exploit links to your public facing career, and maximise income
- Handle disputes sensitively without damaging public perception and reputation
Personal brand and public facing business opportunities
Why this is important
Often your management and agent will support you in identifying and arranging much of this, however there are occasions when either in partnership with them or alongside more traditional income streams we can support and align these to your other business interests.
Having a full picture of things like public speaking gigs, plans for press & PR, etc. can ensure we’re more effective and have context for the decisions that are being made elsewhere in your business portfolio.
How we approach this
- Advising on misalignment of public facing opportunities compared to private business interests or board positions and vice-versa
- Advising on marketing and promotional opportunities that may arise through cross-over with public facing activities
- Managing things likes supplier compliance ensuring you are set-up as a supplier for your corporate gigs, invoices issued and paid on time, administering logistics and being a single-point-of-contact once the gig has been secured.
- Internal bookkeeping (tracking expenses, etc.) saving you expensive accounting fees ensuring that your accountant has all the data they need in good time for tax year end
